We were fortunate enough to cross paths with the living legend, Cody Robbins, at a bustling trade show a few years ago. After engaging in some lively conversation and creative scheming, Cody extended an invitation for us to join him on an exciting shed hunting trip in Saskatchewan, which also involved a secret mission that added a tantalizing twist. The mission was to mold a special set of antlers, dubbed MOLD SLEEPY, for his dedicated cameraman, Richy, as a delightful surprise. Richy had been alongside Cody throughout the entire journey to secure Sleepy, and therefore, Cody felt strongly that Richy truly deserved his own unique set of deer antlers to cherish and enjoy forever. And that is precisely what we made happen during that unforgettable trip!
After meeting halfway between the beautiful landscapes of Utah and the vast plains of Saskatchewan, on what was ostensibly a “work trip,” cameraman Richy discovered the truth about what we had really been up to for the past several months. I had the duo meet me at the end of a wooded road, and as soon as they arrived i busted out of the bushes and shouted “Happy Birthday!”
My wife, our 9-month-old baby, and I packed mold-making supplies and left our older kids with grandma for a weekend trip to Saskatchewan. When we arrived, we set up our equipment in Codys trophy room and enjoyed the peaceful landscape. As we unloaded, we watched our curious baby and appreciated the fresh air and open space, a nice break from our busy home life. Once we were ready, we organized our supplies—silicone rubber, release agents, and tools—eager to begin making molds. With our baby in a playpen nearby, we balanced family life with our craft, enjoying the teamwork and bonding this getaway offered.
I truly can't thank Cody and Kelsy enough for their incredible hospitality, warmly welcoming us into their home, and allowing us the wonderful opportunity to spend quality time together doing what we both genuinely love to do!
